Level measurement with radar
The Right Radar Level Measurement for Every Application
Our wide range of radar sensors takes level measurement to the next level. Non-contact radar devices ensure safe, efficient measurement even in harsh conditions, while explosion-proof versions provide maximum safety in hazardous areas. With global approvals for use on ships, in hygienic environments, and in hazardous zones, VEGA sensors set the standard in safety and reliability. Digital solutions also help optimise processes and save resources.
How radar level measurement works
Radar sensors emit high-frequency electromagnetic waves via a special antenna. These waves are reflected by the medium and measured by the sensor. The result is continuous, non-contact measurement that is precise, reliable, and wear-free.
Why frequency matters
High-frequency radar sensors (e.g. 80 GHz) are compact, have narrow beam angles, and deliver strong reflections. This enables focused, accurate measurement even in confined spaces and under challenging process conditions.
Advantages of radar level measurement
- Continuous, non-contact measurement
- Independent of dust, vapour, or condensation
- High accuracy and fast response times
- Suitable for liquids, bulk solids, powders, and pasty media
- Low maintenance and long service life
- Simple installation and integration
Areas of application
- Radar sensors are ideal for industries such as:
- Food and beverage
- Chemicals
- Plastics processing
- Construction and building materials
- Energy
