The mobile measuring unit "VGS 4500" from Schütz GmbH Messtechnik is a system with which the above-ground gas pipeline network inspection of traversable pipelines can be carried out in accordance with the new DVGW regulations of 2019 with a motor vehicle.
The Scout VGS 4500 is modular with different vehicle types, such as pickup, quad or passenger car, applicable and easy to operate. In the desert, the measuring unit has already proven its reliability and its enormous practicality under the most difficult environmental conditions.
For methane gas detection, an innovative laser measurement system is used that allows a very high sampling rate and equally high measurement sensitivity of 0.01 ppm. Due to the laser being set to methane (CH4), there is no cross-sensitivity to other gases such as car exhaust, LPG or other hydrocarbon gases.
The Scout VGS 4500 measuring unit is operated and monitored using a tablet PC. The software was developed and programmed by Schütz GmbH Messtechnik specifically for the system. It displays the measurement route in real time, automatically records and logs each leak. In the scope of delivery: a worldwide overview map (OSM) is already included. Furthermore, a map of the gas pipeline network to be inspected can be read in.
ppb = Parts per billion (1ppm = 1000ppb)
